Thursday, Aug. 4: Summer Orientation

class schedule

Upset that you didn’t get a class with your friend or were assigned underwater basket-weaving as an elective? Just remember this is a stepping stone. It could always be worse…

  • Mark your calendars and find your orientation appointment time based on your rising grade level and first letter of your last name. This info. is also available on the school website.
  • You got your class schedule and found out I’m your ELA teacher. If you haven’t done so already, please reference the 2016-2017 Supply List post. It has the corrections of my preferences that didn’t make it onto the printed copy of supplies you received at summer orientation.
  • Whoops…the summer kind of got away from you. Haven’t completed the summer reading yet? Click here for more information about the 2016-2017 reading options and two required assignments with this post. Don’t worry. Procrastination happens to the best of us. Just have it finished by the first day of school: Aug. 15.
  • Looking to earn a scholarship for college? Consider entering this essay contest due Friday, Sept. 9.

Arturo Turtle, Class Mascot

Happy first day of Summer!

Summer break is just a few short weeks away! Your favorite class mascot is here to remind you to finish the school year strong, and also use the summer to rest up for next year. Maybe you are finished with your summer reading, or are looking for more ways to stave off boredom. If you’re looking for a pastime, consider creating your very own Take-Along-Arturo.

The class mascot you know and love has shell and will travel. He’s got a few stops this summer and would love to join you on your plans: be it visiting local coffee shops, enjoying backyard barbecues, or traveling to far off countries.
